What Comes In Kia’s Extended Warranty

All About Kia’s Extended Warranty

Your new Kia comes with a pretty amazing warranty to start with. From the 10-year/100,000-mile warranty, the 10-year warranty, and the 5-year basic limited warranty, you are fairly covered in most directions. However, adding an extended warranty is a pretty sweet deal to cover the other areas that lie outside of your basic coverage.

Let’s go over some of the details of Kia’s extended coverage to equip you with the knowledge to make an informed decision.

Kia’s Three Levels of Extended Warranty Coverage

Here is what each protection plan covers:

Powertrain Coverage

  • Transmission
  • Engine
  • Drive axel
  • Transaxle
  • Transfer case
  • Natural gas components
  • Additional hybrid, PHEV, compressed

Gold Coverage

This coverage encompasses all of the features from the Powertrain Coverage, plus these additional components:

  • Cooling
  • Steering
  • Brakes
  • Air Conditioning
  • Suspensions
  • Electrical

Platinum Coverage

This is the highest level of coverage, joining the Powertrain and Gold coverage plus these additional aspects: brake linings, drums, rotors, disc brake pads, pressure plate, transmission clutch friction disc (for a standard manual transmission), pilot bearing, throw-out bearing, and arm, airbags, solar-powered devices, glass, lenses, sealed beams, body parts/ panels/ paint, bright metal, upholstery, trim, weatherstripping and moldings, lock cylinders, tires and wheels, all batteries (excluding hybrid, EV, hydrogen high voltage), freeze plugs, filters, heater and radiator hoses, exhaust system, shock absorbers, catalytic converter, front-end alignment or wheel balancing services, safety restraint systems, audio and security systems, and vinyl and convertible tops.

The perks don’t stop there. When you have any one of these extended warranty plans, you also get towing, travel, fluids, and rental car coverage. This saves you money when unexpected problems arise.

What Is Not Covered by Kia’s Extended Warranty

Knowing what is not covered or eligible for coverage is just as important as knowing what is. Here are some of the excluding qualities and instances outside of coverage:

  • Repairs in conjunction with a mechanical breakdown (in reference to front-end alignment or wheel balancing services)
  • Damage from environment
  • Damage from improper maintenance
  • Cost of routine maintenance
  • Wear and tear on batteries and filters
